Why a service log is worth keeping
Two identical cars of the same year and mileage can differ by a significant margin in price. The difference is usually evidence. A seller who can show when the oil was last changed, which parts were replaced and what each service cost gives a buyer a reason to trust the car — and a reason not to negotiate as hard.
A maintenance log also pays for itself while you own the car:
- Rising fuel consumption is an early warning of tyre pressure, filter or sensor problems.
- Knowing exactly when a wear item was fitted prevents paying twice for the same job.
- Annual running cost becomes a real figure instead of a guess, which makes it easier to decide when to replace the car.
